Description
The Suncoast Branch of the Florida Chapter was founded in 1993. The Suncoast Branch covers the area of Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto, Hardee and Highlands Counties. The meetings are held in Sarasota.
Meetings
The Suncoast Branch holds monthly breakfast meetings except for December when no meeting is held due to Holidays. At each meeting, an interesting program of timely topics related to the public works community is featured. Meetings are held at the Sarasota Sahib Shrine Event Center located at 600 N. Beneva Road, Sarasota, starting at 7:30 AM typically on the fourth Wednesday of the month. As always, we extend an invitation to any member outside our district to join us! So please feel invited.
Activities and Events
The Suncoast Branch hosts an Annual Sporting Clays Event in the fall to benefit the APWA Suncoast Branch Scholarship Fund. Since 1998 the Suncoast Branch has raised over $100,000 in scholarship fund.

Hurricane Relief BBQ Volunteers Needed for Tuesday/Wednesday Our Florida Chapter Delegate, Amy Blaida, and Technical Marketing Manager for Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions is looking for volunteers to help plate-up food for our local public works community. If you can help, please contact Amy Blaida at (813) 468-4576. Here is the plan Manatee County will have runners to distribute the meals appropriately across the County. We will cook until the food is gone each day starting tomorrow. The plan is to cook lunch and dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday. A lot of the work on our end will be to put the meats and sides in takeout containers. An assembly line worked out well for us after Ian in Fort Myers.
